Every year The Little Garden Company distributes hundreds of cubic yards of mulch from local suppliers throughout our various projects. Our preference is always natural local cedar mulch which provides the eco-friendliest option with least environmental impact. Plus it smells fantastic when you walk outside your house.
Benefits of Mulch in your garden
- Mulch is derived from different organic materials, which helps to retain moisture for your garden, which in turn slowly releases into the soil and root systems of your plants, giving your garden an excellent nutrient source.
- Mulch greatly slows weed growth by acting as a barrier between sun and weed seeds, because of this the weeds are not strong enough to push through the mulch layer to get the much needed sunlight and simply won't grow.
- Mulching protects your garden from soil erosion by absorbing and slowing rainwater, keeping the moisture contained and not in puddles in bare-soil gardens.
- Mulch serves as a temperature regulator for the garden. In the summer months it protects soil and roots from getting burned by the sun. In the winter months, mulch acts as a nice blanket.
